Go see it!

Last weekend my family and I saw the movie, Prince Caspian.
From third grade and up, I highly recommend the movie. Of the five main characters, the youngest is a little girl named Lucy. In the midst of the drama and conflict and adventure, she alone gets the point that they need Jesus Christ.
In the movie, the lion, named Azlan, represents Jesus Christ. He is strong, fierce, kind, and tender. Lucy longs for him and seeks him. There is no mistaking the equality of the lions ferociousness and his pleasure in Lucy’s virtues.
The five of them are up against some pretty bad odds. They blunder more than once. But it is Lucy who from the beginning has her eyes and heart on Azlan.
Lucy represents much of what I want the Students at DRCS to grasp and become like. She is a tenderhearted child who hasn’t grown up too fast and who still believes in a world where a good God not only lives, but is also wise and powerful and eager to handle any and every problem.
I want the students to see Jesus Christ this way. In a world without heros anymore, I want Jesus to be their hero. In a world where kids are captivated by TV and toys, I want them captivated By Jesus. And in a world where kids become self-reliant at far too young of an age, I want them to seek and to trust and to long for Jesus Christ.
Lucy personifies all this. I want to encourage you to see the movie. May your children see in Lucy something that they want and need themselves. And from an adult perspective, may we too be like her. We all have much to learn from her.
