Merry Christmas!

I was struck this year of my own need to keep my eyes forward and past all earthly sentiments of Christmas.

Christmas is about Jesus. It is not about gifts or trees or songs or food. Christmas is about the glory of a loving God manifested in the flesh so that people could be saved from their sins.

Saved from sins. That’s the point.

Sin and being saved from them. Not just eternally, but saved from today’s sins and yesterdays sins. And the sins we’ll carry over into tomorrow.

We need Jesus Christ. That’s the point.

We need what we ourselves cannot supply. We need help. We need wise counsel. We need rescuing. We need strength and backbone and resolve. We need what we so desire, but what we so often cannot muster.

Christmas is about Jesus Christ. May we all continue to keep our eyes there.

This photograph comes from a friend who lives and works in Yosemite National Park. I know of no other better place to see and experience the glory and grandeur of God. Next to being there, spending time with Edie’s photographs wows me like few things can.
